Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Oryn. They are written to be read, not to be skipped — the important parts are that Oryn is not medical care, and that your data remains yours.
Oryn ("the Service") is provided by an independent developer ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Oryn app or website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Oryn is not medical advice
This is the most important term in this document.
Oryn is a personal informational tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Nothing in the Service is medical advice, and no insight, pattern, baseline, or summary it shows should be treated as a clinical finding.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your health, and never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you read in Oryn. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
Health data can be incomplete, delayed, or wrong — sensors drift, devices miss readings, and sources disagree. Oryn shows that uncertainty where it can, but it cannot guarantee that any measurement it receives is accurate.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 years old to use Oryn. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials and your device secure, and for the activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you register, and tell us promptly at legal@oryn.ink if you believe your account has been compromised.
One person, one account. Do not share an account with someone else or use another person's health data as your own.
3. Your data belongs to you
You keep all rights to the health data and account information you bring to Oryn. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the Service for you: to store, process, merge, and display your data so the app can do its job. We claim no ownership of it, and we do not use it to train machine learning models or to advertise to you.
You can export your data or delete it permanently at any time from inside the app. How we handle it is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
4. Connected sources
Oryn reads from Apple Health and, if you connect it, Google Health. Those services are operated by Apple and Google under their own terms and privacy policies, and we do not control them. If a source changes its API, revokes access, or returns incorrect data, the Service may be affected in ways we cannot prevent. You are responsible for having the right to connect any account or data source you link to Oryn.
5. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harm, harass, or impersonate anyone.
- Upload data belonging to another person without their informed consent.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours.
- Probe, scan, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure, or circumvent rate limits and security controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the Service, except where that restriction is unenforceable under applicable law.
- Rely on the Service as a substitute for professional medical care.
6. Availability and changes
Oryn is in active development. Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn, and the Service may be unavailable during maintenance or because of failures outside our control. We do not promise any level of uptime, and we may modify or discontinue the Service. If we plan to discontinue it entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data first.
7. Ending the agreement
You may stop using Oryn and delete your account at any time from inside the app; deletion is permanent and is described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to remove, or that poses a security risk to other people — where circumstances reasonably allow, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your data. Sections 1, 3, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination.
8. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any insight it produces is accurate or complete.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only so far as the law allows, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or health outcomes, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service — including any decision you make based on information it displays.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Indemnity
You agree to hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of another person's rights — including uploading someone else's data without their consent.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product develops. If a change materially affects your rights, we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Oryn after that means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.
12. General
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor that agrees to honour them.
